Downtown Freehold is Rocking this Summer

May 14th, 2024 by

Memorial Day is right around the corner, meaning Downtown Freehold’s calendar is about to get much more crowded. This summer, load the family into your Nissan Rogue and spend your evenings in historic Downtown Freehold. Nearly every day of the week, Downtown Freehold presents live music, movie nights, food vendors, and much more to explore.

Wednesdays: Family Movie Night

Set down your lawn chairs, grab a bite from one of downtown’s many eateries, and settle in for Freehold’s Family Movie Nights, held right outside the Hall of Records on Wednesday nights. The summer schedule kicks off on June 26 with 1989’s Back to the Future Part II and concludes on August 21 with 2014’s The Lego Movie. In between, you can introduce your young ones to classic family films, from Home Alone to Toy Story 2. A different movie can be seen every Wednesday, running from 8:30 – 10:00 p.m.

Thursdays: Thursdays Rock! Summer Concert Series

Summer evenings provide the perfect backdrop for Thursdays Rock!: Downtown Freehold’s series of upbeat rock concerts. The free concert season opens on June 6 with Winslow: An Evening with the Eagles. (Turnstyles round out the lineup on August 22.) For nearly three whole months, you’ll be able to enjoy music from widely known groups and local talent alike. Scheduled performers include Mission Dance, the Eddie Testa Band, a Van Halen Tribute Band, and much more. Shadetree Mechanics, last year’s Porch Fest champions, return to the Freehold stage on July 25.

Sundays: FBAC 2024 Jazz, Blues & More Summer Series

Beginning July 7 and running through August 25 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. every Sunday night is the Freehold Borough Arts Council Jazz, Blues & More Summer Series at the Gazebo. Bring your lawn chairs to 10 E Main Street and enjoy pristine weather and the Freehold sunset, soundtracked by dynamic jazz and blues tunes. With the relatively late start time, you’ll have plenty of time to make the drive, whether you’re just up the road in Englishtown or traveling south from Old Bridge.

Sunday, May 19: FBAC Porch Fest

Freehold Borough Arts Council’s second annual Porch Fest takes place this Sunday, March 19. From noon – 5:00 p.m., enjoy a day of music and fun throughout Freehold Borough, as performers and bands square off for a place in next year’s Thursdays Rock! Summer Concert series lineup. Vendors will be on hand to add a culinary complement to the sonic feast.

Sunday, June 9: Juneteenth Festival

Freehold celebrates its Juneteenth Festival on June 9 at the Hall of Records on Main Street. Presented by the Monmouth County Diversity Alliance, the celebration runs from noon – 4:00 p.m. There will be food, music, vendors, and live entertainment, and all are welcome to join – from Holmdel to Monroe and everywhere in between.

Kick Off Your Summer at Raceway Nissan

There’s plenty to see and do in Freehold this summer – which makes it imperative that Raceway Nissan of Freehold be your first stop. After all, you won’t be able to experience any of these exciting events without a reliable vehicle to get you there.

Kick off the festivities with a new or used Nissan vehicle from Raceway Nissan. From the eccentrically roomy 2024 Nissan Kicks to the powerful Nissan Titan, you’ll find the car, truck or SUV that transforms your family’s routine summer days into memories you’ll share forever.
